- This is part of my Folk Music of England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales & America website.
- These are songs from my site that were popular in England, arranged in chronological order. I have struggled to put them in APPROXIMATE/BEST GUESS date order. There are some for which I have no clue as to a date, so some may appear randomly placed. If you have an educated correction, please let me know.
- Also, be advised that for the early ballads, the century may not be the date the tune AND words were known. The date I have used is for the original ballad or air to which the song can be linked. The tunes and words here are modern variants of the originals.
- If you wish to use any of these tunes in an archive or on a webpage READ THIS.
